Halong Bay

Yet another major tourist stop but this time I knew what I was getting into. Halong Bay is magestic looking with millions of limestone cliffs jutting out of the ocean just off shore. The main way to see it is setting sale on a junk boat for a two day cruise along with about 100 other junk boats just like it. It is not such a bad way of traveling though as we always meet great people on tours. I booked through Indochina Seas and I highly recommend it. A beautiful boat, large sun deck, amazing food, great service, and the most comfortable bed I have slept in on this trip.

All boats stop pretty much in the same places so there are hordes of people at each stop. No use thinking you will sail into a deserted beach or explore hidden caves on your own even though I am sure there are thousands of them. Never the less, it was gorgeous to just cruise through the cliffs and watch the sun set between them.

We did get in a bit of swimming and kyaking and also a visit to another floating fishing village...same, same but different. These people live quite a bit away from shore so they live out here there whole life without touching land! Luxuries include fresh water for showering and fruit!

Then it was back to the mainland for us before we knew it but I actually wish I had another day to spend.
