Scotland

Scottland was never top on my list to visit but I was actually blown away by how much I loved it.  Of course it rained, but I didnt even mind.

We had an opportunity to attend a colleagues wedding in a beautiful white castle called Blair Castle.  Its in the middle of Scottland near Pitlochry, a cute village taken straight out of a book with perfect stone houses lining tiny windy rounds.  We rented a car so we can take a ride through the country side and enjoy the views...beautiful rolling hills and the greenest green I have ever seen!

If you know me at all, I am not a fan of weddings and the thought of a traditional wedding in a castle was not going to be the highlight of the trip.  First surprise of the weekend...I loved it!   Kilts, Scottish music and dancing, and lots of good hearted people up for a long night of drinking and dancing until you couldnt dance anymore.  I think I spinned myself silly but I finally got in step with traditional Scottish dances.

After the wedding, we headed through the east coast to find St. Andrews.  (Jared plans all his trips around sports and so it wouldnt be officially a trip if we didnt see the famous golf course).  The town itself is tiny and feels like it is hanging on the edge of the sea.  We had a great cosy lunch and a wander through the town, golf course, and coastline including the St Andrews Castle ruins.

And then it was back to Edinburgh where we had a few hours before our flight.  Just enough time to grab a coffee in the cafes and walk around the beautiful Edinburgh castle.  Surprisingly Edinburgh has a great city vibe to it and hopefully we will be back to search out some more gems in this city.
