Riley - 1 Month and Growing

Riley is already 1 month old.  Everyone says how fast they grow but I think Riley has surpassed expectations.  His newborn phase is just a memory now and seems like forever ago.  This month, he already does a great job holding up his head, smiles, coos, tries to mimic you, swats at toys, and cries real tears.

We can already see his personality is already coming out.  He is a social butterfly, has a ton of energy and awake time, is an eager and quick learner, and loves moving around.  He is going to be a lot of fun.

I am still enjoying the break from work with him.  Mostly this month, since my mother in law has left, has been all about catching up on things and projects (such as his pictures and blog), cooking new recipes as well as starting to work out (that is when we don't sleep in).  But we are still fitting in our daily walks on the lake, brunches, girls shopping, sushi and the Hurlimann Baths while papa babysits and dinners out with friends here in Zurich.  Its amazing how I manage to keep busy by myself.

We also have ventured out for Riley's first trips away from home - his first train ride, first stay in a hotel (first sleep in a big crib, too), first trip to the mountains, first experience of it snowing.  Of course, he did just fine.

Riley's Stats
  • 58 cm long
  • 5 kg weight
  • Poos up the back - 3

What I love about Riley this month:

  • His smiles (particularly when you stick out your tongue)

  • His cooing and talking (and the way he grunts and works so hard to get a sound out)
  • How excited he gets to discover new things and places
  • His incredible ability (and love) to stand with my help for balance
  • His big eyes (which are getting lighter by the day)
  • The way he cries (complete with tears and quivering chin) and then immediately stops when he gets what he wants
  • His sad puppy dog face
  • His furrowed brow look - just like his dad
