Riley - 10 Months

Finally!!! Riley has cut a few teeth after pretty much two months of teething (diarhea, ear infections, pain, night waking, etc) ... but they have only just cut, its been several weeks and we are still waiting for them to completely pop up. Sooo slow. Epically slow.

But that hasn't changed his love of food. He is such a beggar. He will yell at complete strangers on the train and doesn't hesitate to pull himself up on our friends' laps and stick his hands in their plate. If you are eating, he needs to eat. The other day at our play date several other kids had snack time at various points and he decided he needed to eat each time, which meant 4 times within 2 hours, or he was going to starve. STARVE.

He has started to want to eat with a spoon. He loves them but we are still working on this. I am not quite ready for this kind of mess. He also started to drink from a cup by himself - I couldn't figure out why he wouldn't take the sippy cup anymore until one day at brunch he just picked up my cup and started drinking.

And he is obsessed with the kitchen. He knows that's where the food comes from. Its his favourite room in the house (at least its not the toilet anymore). He wants to empty the dishwasher, take bottles out of the fridge, watch you make dinner (while picking up a whole tomato and demolishing it), help stir anything, and play in the sink.

But he is still learning how to help out elsewhere.  He likes to brush my hair and my teeth, help sweep and help wash the table. Cleaning days are his favourite days I think.

He always has been a "doer", learns through experimenting and is very independent.  But while he loves to do things, he even more so loves animals, especially monkeys, penguins, and dogs. He is learning to BAAA like a sheep and ROAR like a lion.

This month has been slow after the Christmas Holidays. We mostly have been taking advantage of it and getting a lot done in anticipation of our big move which has also meant less play dates, pool and zoo for Riley. On the weekends we have been doing our usual - catching up with friends, dinners, brunches, etc.
