Lugano

Lugano is stunning.  The town itself isn't much.  A nice square where you can find some good food and good Ticino local wine, a place to rent a boat for the afternoon, a very nice Lido in the midst of lake surrounded by mountains, and views from the top.  But the best part is of course the lake, surrounding mountains and villages. 

Unfortunately it wasn't quite nice enough yet for swimming but we did two great hikes.  The best one was Monte San Salvadore...a great view from the top but a great walk down to the beautiful town of Morocote (classic Italian villas with neat Swiss gardens tumbling off the mountain and into the lake) for a late lunch on the lake, and then a boat trip back to Lugano.
