Mauritius
Between my morning sickness and Jared's work commitments, we haven't really taken a proper holiday yet this year. We needed to get away and relax, no big adventures this time. With it being our one major holiday this year, I wanted to go big as well. I could also say it was my birthday, our babymoon, or simply that we just deserved it. Bottom line was - why not?
So I set my sites on a beach holiday at a top resort off of Africa and found a good deal in Mauritius. It was exactly what you get when staying at a five star beach resort...beach villas with direct access to the beach and our own beach chairs with butler service (mango smoothies for me), beautiful pools, a great massage at the spa, a fitness center for some daily rejuvenating exercise, a day trip to the resorts private island and a day trip to the reef for some snorkelling. Other than the snorkelling and daily gym session, the holiday was all about lounging around and early nights in. It was exactly what we needed and we came back completely refreshed from the sunshine and relaxing.
Note: For those looking to head to Mauritius, there are some great resorts with every convenience and great service and you will get exactly what you pay for. But if you are looking for an amazing beach - white sandy beach with crystal clear waters great for swimming or one with easily accessible snorkelling - there are much better options elsewhere.
