My Sober Oktoberfest

Who doesn't love Oktoberfest? We booked in early this year with some other expats to secure a table at one of the tents. We were really looking forward to it. And then I found out I was pregnant.

 

At least my dirndl still fit. Lots of water and apfelshorle instead of beer but I also treated myself to extra apple strudel. Not nearly as fun navigating the drunk crowds sober. I lasted the day though.

 

But on the second day, I forced Jared to do something different. We headed out of town to Neuschwanstein Castle. I was really surprised at how packed the train and castle were despite it being Oktoberfest in town. But it was manageable and the castle is stunning and offers a good tour in English.

 

We headed back to Oktoberfest in the evening though to enjoy the fair outside of the tents. There are tons of rides and tons of food stalls for picking. We took the ferris wheel to enjoy the views over the fair and I, of course, got my share of sweet treats.
