Christmas in Budapest

Budapest is a little disappointing when you think about the Hungarian history here. But never the less it does have a beautiful Parliament building, and the view from Fisherman's Bastian is quite gorgeous. Its a good days worth of site seeing.

We strategically planned our trip for December to include the Christmas Markets. The whole downtown was packed full of markets and lights. And best of all, it was all commercialized with cheap souvenirs. You could still pick up some handmade wood carved ornaments and the like.

And the food didn't disappoint either. Even though I am usually not a fan of German, Czech, Austrian, Hungarian, etc cuisine. We hit some good restaurants from stops at the Christmas markets to a 12 course menu at the five star Onyx restaurant. And I was also pleasantly surprised by the Hungarian wines. Nothing worth shipping back but a fine addition to our restaurant stops.
