The Big Move
And just like that we are moving to Aus. A new chapter in our life...one that involves daycare drop offs, friends with kids, house hunting, a new family car, dinner and brunch parties. Yikes. I am trying to take it gracefully instead of kicking and screaming like Riley would. But it is time.
The flight over was better than expected considering there was no business class upgrade this time...but we scored a four seat row all to ourselves. Jared and I took the ends and let Riley run and sprawl out between us.
Then we got to spent two weeks in a studio apartment for temporary accommodation. Just the three of us, all 10 of our suitcases, and no toys for Riley.
Since then we have finally moved into our new flat, which just so happens to be our old flat that we moved out of 4 years ago (meant to be?). With our old view. And the whales welcomed us home on moving day.
Unfortunately though, I started working right away and the flat was quite chaos for a few weeks (lets be honest, it still is). Our weekends are spent shopping, unpacking, and cleaning. We have a stack of cardboard boxes piling up for recycling day. And our shipping doesn't arrive until August. So it will be awhile before it feels like home. Not to mention the long list of things to do - get a car, drivers licenses, etc, etc. Every weekend is full of adulting. Welcome to adulthood.
But life is continuing on. Jared is meeting with recruiters and starting the job interviews. Riley started daycare and we are all getting used to our new routine. And slowly the house is becoming a home. It will all be worth it in the end.
