Thanksgiving Down Under 2016
I may have been a way from the States for nine Thanksgivings but can you believe I have never fully hosted a Thanksgiving at our house? We have always had lots of expat friends who either hosted or we all chipped in. But since moving back to Aus, we haven't jumped into a new expat crew and thus it was up to us to host this year. So we put on the works for six of our closest friends (who have never had a Thanksgiving before - so they will never know if I really mess it up).
A drink bar ....
...including a jug of Pumpkin Beer from our local pub, Four Pines
Cheese platter, baked camembert with Dijon and almonds, and bacon wrapped dates...
And of course pumpkin pie from scratch and homemade whipped cream!
No fancy table settings - just the eight of us stuffed around our little table with amazing food. I cant believe we pulled it off (especially my first ever Turkey). Hopefully we will be as lucky next year.

A traditional oven roasted Turkey brined over night in a cider and citrus brine, stuffed with apples and oranges, and covered in bacon and sage (it came out perfectly moist - thank god!)....
And all the fixings - salad with brie, blueberries and homemade balsamic vinaigrette, roasted carrots and beets, stuffing balls, and sweet potato casserole...
And of course pumpkin pie from scratch and homemade whipped cream!
