ROMA
ROMA is very very touristy and very very crowded but surprisingly barebable. Maybe its because it was my first trip to Italy and it still managed to enchant me. Its the first place in Europe to complete mesmerize me even over Paris. I was completely absorbed by the culture. It is right up my alley... beautiful art and architecture, history, shopping, and cafes to spend lazy days or while away the whole night with good food and red wine. I may have gained 5 lbs but the daily gelatos to seek out our favorite was a great experience.
Then of course there is the Roman Ruins, Palestine Hill, Colloseum and the Pantheon. They make history interesting. I wish I remembered everything from my history classes in school.
And the touristy sites are completely worth it. There is a reason it is one of the most visited places on the planet. You absolutely must see the Vatican. It is stunning. I was completely in awe of the history and the beauty.

And then there is the gorgeous fountains and squares, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps etc etc. We didnt even make it to half the sites and Art Museums we wanted.
