Riley - 1 Year Old
Riley's First Birthday!!!
We couldn't let this day go uncelebrated. Riley woke up to a room full of balloons and a trike. I think he liked the balloons better, though. We started with brunch with friends for a Survival Party for mama and papa and then more friends in the afternoon for cupcakes. Riley is already a little chocoholic. He knows a chocolate wrapper when he sees one, and can even hear one. There is no hiding it from him. And he cant just walk by the chocolate isle at the grocery store. It doesn't help that all the Easter candy is out already.
He loved his day. All his friends. All at once.
He has become proficient at walking, started getting cocky on the stairs, climbs furniture, and is now attempting somersaults. He still loves anything physical: jumping on the bed, being swung in the air and ring around the rosie. He also loves being outside and walking by himself. He is so proud of himself. Nothing slows him down these days, not even food, chocolate or Dora. He is always going. Sometimes he just runs circles around the dining table.
His vocabulary also continues to expand...bear, truck, come, etc. As does his understanding. You can tell him to go get his books or get my shoes. Next up pouring my wine, hehe.
He has been super happy after his 12 month developmental leap, month 13 may be my favourite so far. He is full of charisma. He flashes his biggest smile and is a little flirt. He is certainly not shy and will walk up to anyone and play with them. But he still only wants his mama to pick him up. (He is a bit of a mama's boy.)
Riley is now really into cars, trucks, and trams. A car never leaves his hands these days.
Nanny came to spoil him for his first birthday. Day one and Riley got a cookie, chocolate, and a cupcake. Unfortunately for both of them, Riley got sick and wasn't much fun. He is especially a mama's boy when he is sick.
But he has had to put up with a lot lately. We have done quite a bit of traveling, I have been busy packing and moving, and then we moved in with friends for a month. Now we are off for a month in the States and a move to Australia.

Riley's Stats:
- What Riley wont eat - lettuce, cucumber, and quinoa
What I Love about Riley this Month:
- The way he stomps his feet and claps his hands to songs.
- The way he lays on the floor, on his side, propped up on his elbow, legs crossed. Like a teenager.
- His squished up nose face. I have no clue where he got it from.
